Why Choose a Full Rise Scissor Lift?

Full height scissor lifts offer the same lift height as a 2 post or 4 post lift, but without the need for overhead bars or large corner posts. They use synchronised platforms to raise the vehicle from its chassis or jacking points, giving you:

         • Clear access to wheels and underbody
         • Better use of floor space in tight workshops
         • Clean, open bay layout with no posts to work around
         • Faster install with surface- or flush-mount options

If you’re limited on ceiling height or want a tidy, post-free setup, a full height scissor lift is a smart, space-saving alternative to a 2 post lift or 4 post lift.

          • UK stock with fast delivery and full support

Looking for a smaller-footprint alternative? See our mid rise scissor lifts for waist-height lifting without the full rise height.

When to Choose a Full Rise Scissor Lift

Full rise scissor lifts are a practical solution for garages that need proper under-vehicle access but don’t have the space — or ceiling height — for a 2 post or 4 post lift. These lifts raise vehicles to full working height while maintaining a compact footprint and a clear, post-free workspace.

They’re especially well-suited to servicing, inspections, exhaust work, underseal treatment, and MOT prep — anywhere you need safe, stable access underneath the vehicle. Because they lift using platforms that support the vehicle by its tyres or sills, they’re not designed for full wheel-off jobs unless used with additional jacking systems.

If your garage has low ceilings, awkward floorplans, or you’re simply trying to maximise space, a high scissor lift offers a clean, efficient alternative. There are no posts to work around, which means easier side access and more flexibility for your team.

Installation is often quicker and less disruptive than post lifts. Many units are surface-mounted, requiring only a solid concrete floor, while flush-mount options give you a neat finish with no protrusions when the lift is lowered.

For many garages, a full height scissor lift strikes the right balance — more access than a mid rise scissor lift, more compact than a 4 post lift, and less demanding than a 2 post lift. It’s a great all-rounder for general servicing and underbody work where space is tight and speed matters.

FAQs About Full Rise Scissor Car Lifts

How high do full rise scissor lifts go?
Most models lift to around 1.8m – 2m (full working height), comparable to a 2 post lift.
Can I install one without digging the floor?
Yes. We stock surface-mount and flush-fit models. Surface-mount units don’t require groundwork.
Are full rise scissor lifts suitable for wheel-off jobs?
Most full rise scissor lifts support the vehicle by the tyres or underbody sills, so they’re not designed for wheel-off work as standard. However, some models may allow for optional jacking beams or accessories to lift the wheels off the platform. If you need regular access to wheels and suspension, a 2 post lift may be a better fit.
What’s the difference between mid and full rise lifts?
Mid rise scissor lifts only lift to around 1m, suitable for inspections and bodywork. Full rise lifts provide complete underbody access for mechanical jobs.
